Crib Board
WCRIBMA’s Response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, effective March 19, 2020 the WCRIBMA has instituted a mandatory remote work schedule and eliminated business travel for all employees until further notice. The California Rural Indian Health Board, Inc. (CRIHB) was formed to provide a central focal point in the Indian health field in California for planning, advocacy, funding, training, technical assistance, coordination, fund raising, education, development and for the purpose of promoting unity and formulating common policy on Indian health care issues. There are four main ways to customize a cribbage board: with a shaped outline, an engraving (both text and images), a 3d carving, and with an exotic wood species choice. Prices start as low as $50 with free shipping in the US for an engraved board and most are under $170. You can add extra engraving to the front or back of most standard boards.
Hi friends! We’re getting pretty close to Christmas now, eh? Nick and I have been busy little elves in our workshop making gifts for our friends and family members, and these Cribbage Boards turned out so amazing, we just had to share the how-to with you! They’re actually pretty simple if you have the right drill bit and template, so read on!

XL Racetrack Cribbage
Rockler’s Template makes this a quick project present to throw under the tree for your cribbage-loving loved one!
We grabbed what scraps we had laying around the garage and made 3 standard size racetrack cribbage board games. Pictured below, a maple (the asymmetrical one that might make you twitch if you’re OCD), live edge cutoff, and an old cutting board that never got finished (the one with a pattern of 3 different wood types).
We cut the scraps to a length that would fit the Rockler Template + the length needed to drill a 1 3/8” carrying/hanging hole. We used our Ridgid Compund Sliding Miter Saw to do this.
Then we marked the outline of the template.
We drilled a 1 3/8” hole using a forstner bitand drill press.
Once the carrying holes were drilled we routed the holes and edges with a 1/4” round over router bit.
Using masking tape we then taped on the templateand drilled all the holes.
Lastly sand and finish. Viola!!! Super simple homemade games!
Rockler also sells a XL Template and pegs. This is a great option for your Cribbage Crazed Colleagues. This makes for one monster of a cribbage board, measuring 8” x 28”. It is also a great gift for your cribbage loving auntie with arthritis, the pegs on this bad boy are easy to grab and maneuver.

Discarding: | Chooses a random pair of cards. |
Pegging: | Chooses a random valid card. |

Discarding: | Chooses the pair of cards that will result in the best hand score ignoring the possible flip card. If the discards are a pair or sum to 15, it adjusts the analyzed hand value by 2 (plus or minus depending on the crib owner.) Notice that this strategy does not account for flushes or possible runs that could result from the flip card. |
Pegging: | Chooses the next card that will result in the highest score for itself. If all plays are of equal value then it chooses at random. |

Crib Board Template
Discarding: | Evaluates the score for each pair of discards for all possible flip cards still left in the deck. Then takes the play that averages the highest outcome. For the cards in the crib, evaluates their value as well with each possible flip card and adds or subtracts depending on who will count the crib. Note that the potential from the two additional crib cards are not included in the crib analysis. |
Pegging: | Chooses the next card that will result in the highest score for itself. It also prefers not to leave the pegging count at 5 or 21. If all plays are of equal value then it chooses at random. |
